Bear Safety and Awareness
This 3 hour hands on program will help give you the confidence and skills to enjoy the great outdoors in Bear Country.
What we cover:
What is a bear sighting vs a bear encounter.
Bear sign, food sources and habitat
Bear language (what is the bear telling you).
How you should/shouldn't react and respond to a bear.
How and when to properly deploy bear spray.
*Each participant will use inert spray to simulate real spray on a 3D bear target.

John has been a Fish and Wildlife Officer for 30+ years and is a leading investigator for bear encounters in Alberta. He is an expert in bear behaviour. John is also the owner and founder of the Canadian Bear Safety Authority and currently runs the Crowsnest Pass Bear Smart Association in Crowsnest Pass Alberta with Association President Christy Pool.
